EXCELLENT CURRICULUM
  • The Jefferson Academies were made available to all incoming freshmen for the 2004- 2005 school year. There are six Academies to choose from: Arts and Communications, Business and Technology, International Studies, Life-Centered Achievement, Political and Social Sciences, Science, Engineering, and Mathematics. The Academies were developed to improve educational opportunities for all students based on best practices, national recommendations and expectations of the workplace and post-secondary education. The Academies provide a framework to respond to several state, national and international initiatives, including Indiana's P-16 Action Plan to improve student achievement. Jefferson provides four ways for students to complete a program of study to become eligible for the high school diploma. Enrollment in an Academy is optional.
  • Through Jefferson's partnership initiative, the school has gained valuable relationships with Purdue University and Ivy Tech Community College to provide over 60 dual college credit courses to students on the Jefferson campus and numerous others off campus. In addition, JHS has partnered with business and industry to offer hands-on experience through internships.

EXCELLENT ATHLETIC OPPORTUNITIES
  • With 14 state championships and numerous sectional, regional and semi-state titles, Jefferson supports one of Indiana's premier athletic programs. Prior to moving to the Hoosier Crossroads Conference beginning in the 2003-04 school year, Jefferson High School won a record 160 championships in the North Central Conference and 23 of 25 women's all-sports championships. Jefferson supports 21 interscholastic programs and has facilities that are among the finest in the nation. Many graduates of Jefferson go on to play in Division I athletics.
